Achieved our RI contributions and membership target - awarded Presidential Citation

Continued the Anzac Day Programme with 43 schools and 850 students and staff participating.

Donation of $1120 to ARH.

$1500 was donated to the Rural relief project around Nathalia

$5000 was transferred to the ARAS Trust.

Established the Combined Probus Club of Notting Hill co-ordinated by Graham Shaw.

Participated in the Mayor of Monash Golf Day.

Supported Voung Cheng to RYLA

Pride of Workmanship award to worker with disability from Waverley Industries.

Participated as the support club for ROMAC patient, Joyce.

$1000 donation to Romac

$1200 donation to Shelterbox.

Signed off on the water capture project at Uluru orphanage in Chennai.

Sponsored Nick Silagy and Byron Tabet (Wesley) to MUNA. They represented China and were selected as winners and will go to Canberra for the National finals.

Continued with Photographic Course - 8 courses held.

Negotiating on a proposal to conduct a Farmers Market at Monash University.

Continuing photography courses including Photoshop courses.

Photography courses raised $42000 gross and netted both Monash and Nunawading Clubs $14666.

Christmas cakes and puddings raised $430.

Waverley Rose Society hall tidy up raised $600.

Community raffle involvement by Shirley and Chris Harris raised $423.

Continued involvement with Monash Mayor’s Charity Golf Day. Our share of proceeds $1,500 donated to Wahroonga Friendship Village.

Entertainment books coordinated by Tom Flintoff raised $696.

Christmas raffle netted the club $360.

City of Monash Mayor's Charity Golf Day raised $31000 which the Mayor donated to Winaccom Association who provide support for intellectually disabled persons in the City of Monash. Chris Harris and John Smith represented our Club on the committee and together with the Bendigo Bank representatives won the Rotary Cup.

Membership increased by two to 25 - the number on Charter.

Uluru Children's Home (in India) Matching Grant was completed. Budget $50000 - Clubs contribution $8400.

One Shelter Box purchased for $1200.

Graham Shaw looking into how we can support the Kokoda Hospital in Papua New Guinea.

$2976 donated to the Rotary Foundation.

Group Study Exchange was successful in nominating two candidate for Team Members (Jackie Sketcher and Brett Speed). Merv Ericson selected as Team Leader for the Team visiting London in September. Cost to Club $1400.

John & Jan Smith entered the bike ride to Conference and raised $2000 for ARHRF.

Jacqueline Fraser was successful as a candidate to The National Youth Science Forum in Canberra.

Shirley Harris with the aid of Chris and Tom Flintoff collected $42000 in goods for the residents of Nathalia. Distribution by the local CWA members.

Graham Shaw received a Silver Friend Award from the ARHRF for his support over the years.

A Paul Harris Fellow Award was presented to the Rev.Jim Pilmer, the Senior Chaplain with the Victoria Police Force.

Breakfast meetings were well supported and partners nights successful. Several dinners were held during the year.

Assist. Gov. John Barnes attended our meetings during the year and gave us good support.

Cluster meetings held and attended by Cluster Presidents and partners.

Club Members attended the District Assembly, District Conference, Pets Seminar, 24 Hour Rotary Awareness Meeting and our normal joint meeting with Mt Waverley Club in January. Our Club also had representatives at the Australia Day Dinner, RI PE Wilf Wilkinson Dinner and ARHRF Seminar.

District Governor Bob and Jill visited the Club on several occasions.

Year finished with the Change Over Dinner where Ian Donald was handed the Chain of Office together with well wishes for the year ahead.

Out going Club President John was awarded a Sapphire to his Paul Harris Award for a year well done at both Club and as GSE District Committee Secretary/Treasurer.


2005-2006

SERVICE ABOVE SELF

Continuing photography courses now alternating Photoshop courses.

Photography courses raised $10,000.

Christmas cakes and puddings successfully run by Philip Mogg.

Sale of entertainment books coordinated by Tom Flintoff – proceeds of $500 donated to Operation Cleft.

Community raffle involvement by Chris and Shirley Harris.

Continued involvement with Monash Mayor’s Charity Golf Day. Our share of proceeds $1,500 donated to Wahroonga Friendship Village.

Donation of $1,200 to Shelterbox for purchase of box for use in Pakistan following earthquake.

Rotary Foundation contribution of $2,948.

Rotary Health Research contribution of $1,000.

Ongoing process of obtaining matching grant for installation of water tanks in South India orphanage.

Another successful Group Study Exchange participant in Craig Sketcher.

Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA):

1. 2005 candidates attended national finals in Canberra.

2. Two participants from Wesley College represented Mexico at 2006 District MUNA.

Four students sponsored to RYPEN.

NYSF – Our first ever successful student attended 2006.

Fellowship at Joy’s café in August, S Bar in October.

Participated in Tri-Club Membership Interest Meeting – varying degree of success.

Graham Shaw’s participation in Commonwealth Games baton run.


2004 – 2005

Our Club nominated Sean Stratton to the GSE Team going to Iowa and he was successful

We assisted in looking after the GSE Team from Iowa whilst visiting Australia

Rotary Water Website which has been a project of Students at Monash University

Development of a new water supply for a Childrens Orphanage in India, which lost its underground supply when it became contaminated from the Tsunami

Sponsored two students from Brentwood Secondary College to attend the Siemens Summer Science Program

Visit to Joy and Bryan Lane’s home in the Dandenong’s

Promoted and ran a series of four seminars on “Public Speaking and How To Run Effective Meetings”

Breakfast meeting on Wednesday 12th September 2001 was a very sad occasion following the disaster in America a few hours earlier

Sarah Bell who was nominated by our club was successful in being selected to visit the Netherlands as part of the GSE Team

Held sausage sizzles at Holmesglen Tafe Nursery every Sunday for sixteen weeks

Honey sales at the Rotary Club of Mount Waverley’s Market continued

Combined dinner meeting with the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley at the Village Green. The guest speaker was Assistant Commissioner of Police  Noel Perry and he gave us a personal account of what his wife and he experienced on the 11th September in America. At the time of the disaster they were in a hotel next door to the Two Towers.

Raised $350 on the Federal Election Day by conducting a sausage sizzle at the Mount

View Primary School

Dutch lunch at Nettie Mitchell’s home as a going away party for the GSE Team travelling to Holland

Visit to Papua New Guinea by Graham Shaw to assist with rebuilding at Atapea after the tidal wave

Cameron Dellar represented our Club on the GSE Team visiting District 1020 in Scotland and we hosted the Scottish Team whilst in Australia

We assisted financially to the cost of surgery on a lass from Laos with facial deformities

We established the Monash Central Branch of a new Probus Club within the City of Monash

Participation in The City of Monash Mayor’s Charity Golf Day – Club received $1,500

Our Club was successful in obtaining Nissan Australia as the naming rights sponsor when Mercedes Benz ceased to be our major sponsor

Golf lessons continued at Seaford Driving Range

Three members and their wives attended the District Conference in Canberra
